Amber Lounge is the brainchild of Sonia Irvine, sister of ex-ferrari grand prix driver Eddie Irvine.
born in newtownards in northern ireland, sonia began her professional career as a physiotherapist, working for the national health service in the uk and running her own successful private practice. her entrée to the exclusive world of formula one came in 1996 when her brother began racing for the ferrari formula one team. he invited sonia join him in the grand prix paddock as his personal physiotherapist, but her workload soon expanded to include the whole ferrari team. she soon earned a reputation as a hard worker within the industry.
“When I set up the first Amber Lounge party at Monaco in 2003 I wanted to create an event where people from the Formula One community could all come together and have a good time. We are one big family but we rarely have the opportunity to all get together in one venue and I thought there was a need for a VIP nightlife experience where the teams, drivers, sponsors and guests could all enjoy together. I wanted it to be stylish and different – a fun, lively party rather than a formal black-tie affair.”
“Individuality and exclusivity are what I think makes us different. We pride ourselves on our level of service and attention to detail. Each one of our events is bespoke – tailored specifically to the location of choice and built over a period of time to offer something that is unique and only for the Grand Prix weekend.
We treat every single guest as a VIP – personal hostesses, dedicated waitress service at their tables, VIP unlimited access, no queuing – it’s all part of making them feel special and means that our guests get straight on and party.
Our team comes to all our events around the world – our security, both our F&B Managers, our photographer and resident DJ’s – so we all get to know our guests, and they get to know us.
We fly in international artists and renowned DJs to perform for our guests during the weekend. Last year we had Taio Cruz and Sophie Ellis-Bextor sing live, it was fantastic atmosphere and definitely something that we are focusing on this year. Top DJ’s such as Pete Tong and Big Ali have played and more importantly kept the dance-floor busy!
We put a lot of effort into ensuring that our guests have a good time and our parties are a lot of fun, if not a bit wild as well! If people aren’t dancing on my sofas and tables by 1am then I haven’t done my job properly!”
